Devon is one of a number of Counties affected by
Varroa resistance to pyrethroid based treatments.
In the past year the Devon Beekeepers Association has organised
meetings throughout Devon with the support of the National Bee Unit
and the Regional Bee Inspector to inform members of alternative
methods of controlling Varroa, particularly Integrated Pest
Management.
Varroa resistance is an ongoing problem but the Devon Beekeepers
Association is taking active steps to inform all its members of the
current methods of control. These methods will be illustrated in a
video being produced by a professional video maker employed by Devon
Beekeepers Association.
This video is initially intended for Devon
beekeepers, but as the problem of resistance will become
nation-wide, the Executive Council of the Devon Beekeepers
Association has decided to make it available to anyone at cost plus
postage and packing.
The video is available at an
inclusive price of £7.50.
